Analogue Living is my debut furniture collection. Each piece has been designed to actively encourage digital-free behaviour, and time away from our screens using texture, colour and form to help promote creative analogue activities and meaningful moments for people. Whether that’s drawing, writing, drinking tea, listening to records, or losing yourself in your next great idea. The first pieces in the collection are Pack Horse, a chair for adventures, Tea Buddy, a cabinet for sharing a cuppa, and Close-Knit, a low table to huddle around.
Benso is my little studio, made up of just one person, me. For now at least. My name is Michael Cooper.
For 16 years I worked as a journalist and storyteller for brands. I was lucky enough to spend most of my working life ‘making’ with words, pictures and film, but five years ago I started making and designing with wood and other materials. The immersive nature of making, and the opportunity of bringing ideas to life as meaningful objects, fused the best of my creative experience with my desire to make things that connect and inspire people. During those years I realised that I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.
In 2016 I began studying Fine Furniture Making full-time at the Building Crafts College, where I was fortunate to develop and refine my personal approach to behaviour-led design and making.
I love working with individuals and brands. If you’d like to commission me or collaborate get in touch below or message me on Instagram.
